The Devils finally signed Kovalchuk. Their number one priority is now out of the way. Now the Devils must shed some salary to fit Kovalchuk's contract. The Devils are $3 million over the cap. This means that the Devils will most likely need to move $4-6 million of salary before the season commences.

Who might be moved? These names have been thrown around that past week or so: Bryce Salvador, Dainus Zubrus, Travis Zajac, and Jamie Langenbrunner.

In my opinion, and probably everyone else's, the Devils might be better off basically giving away/waiving Salvador or Zubrus.

 

Bobby Ryan

Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register is reporting that talks between the Anaheim Ducks and Bobby Ryan are "active," as Ryan's agent Don Meehan has stated that both parties met on Friday and will continue their talks next week.

Bobby Ryan should land somewhere soon. Remember the money is not the problem. He will get his $5 million per year. It is the length of the contract that is causing the delay. Ryan wants a two-year contract while the Ducks want a five-year contract, a huge difference in tod ...
