The frontrunners for the Willie Mitchell sweepstakes are the San Jose Sharks, Washington Capitals, Vancouver Canucks, and Los Angeles Kings. I think he is a perfect fit for Washington and San Jose as they don't have enough tough defenders. Vancouver would have to trade Bieksa and even then I don't know how easily they can fit in Mitchell.

Willie Mitchell would have been an interesting fit in Anaheim but he has apparently priced himself away from Anaheim. Anaheim's main priority right now should be to lock up Bobby Ryan but they need to add defenders.

Willie Mitchell met with the Washington Capitals on Tuesday but there is still no timetable for him to make up his mind. I would highly recommend Washington to him as they are a great up and coming team in the playoffs. If his desire is to stay West I would recommend San Jose.

James Murphy reported that there is nothing new on the contract extensions being negotiated with Patrice Bergeron and Zdeno Chara. Bergeron's agent said the Ilya Kovalchuk ruling will not have an effect on their negotiations as Bergeron is not seeking a retirement contract.
