NHL Rookies Cementing a Roster Spot Early in 2016-17 Season

There are over 60 players—about two per team—classified as rookies so far this season in the NHL. Not all rookies are created equal—Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs may lead the Calder Trophy race from wire to wire—but each of them has a chance to make an impression at the beginning of the 2016-17 season.

Some rookies may be back in junior or the minors by the end of the month, but there are several who look like they are already on solid footing. One thing is news: Junior players such as Jakob Chychrun, Travis Konecny and Ivan Provorov appear to be here for the duration.

Here are 10 NHL rookies cementing roles with their respective teams this season.
