The Philadelphia Flyers have been in this position before.

It's not one that engenders a lot of confidence, but it is one that they have succeeded from in the past.

The Flyers are trailing the Presidents' Trophy-winning Washington Capitals 3-1, with their only win coming in the fourth game of the series. The Flyers were badly outplayed in the first three games of the series, but they put in a full 60-minute effort in registering a 2-1 win against a surprisingly sleepy Capitals team in Game 4.

Philadelphia head coach Dave Hakstol said his team was not trying to get back in the series. 

"We're not too worried about digging out of a 3-0 hole," he said to the media after the game. "We came here today to win a hockey game."

Score one for the Flyers head coach playing the role of psychologist.

The most likely scenario is the Capitals will come up with a strong effort on home ice and close out the series with a decisive win. However, the Flyers are one of the few teams that have been in an 0-3 situation before and come back to win.
