Three series in the first round of the 2013 NHL playoffs went to a Game 7.
Don't expect things to get any less contentious in the second round, either.
The Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators will get the second round started on Tuesday, May 14. The No. 1-seeded Penguins beat the New York Islanders in six games in the first round, while the No. 7-seeded Senators shocked the Montreal Canadiens in five games. The Penguins and Senators rank first and second respectively in goals per game during the postseason. Ottawa also allowed just 1.8 goals per contest in the first round.
The Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks will start their series after the Penguins and Senators game. The Kings are coming off a 4-2 series victory over the St. Louis Blues, while the Sharks swept the Vancouver Canucks. San Jose is averaging 3.75 goals per game in the playoffs; Los Angeles is allowing 1.67 goals per game.
