Ruslan Fedotenko

As expected the Rangers have officially signed veteran winger Ruslan Fedotenko to a one-year deal. He will be making $1 million this season. He played extremely well during camp and preseason, and definitely deserved the contract.

He will likely play on a line with Sean Avery and Derek Stepan, as they worked very well together in the preseason.

Vinny Prospal

Not such good news coming out today about veteran center/winger Vinny Prospal. According to Larry Brooks of the NY Post, Prospal may have season (or even career) ending surgery. Not good to hear for Prospal, or the Rangers who resigned him to a one-year deal over the summer.

Prospal was second leading scorer last season, and though he probably would not center the first line this season, he is still a key part to this Rangers team. I wish him luck, and hopefully this surgery does not have to take place.
