NHL Free Agents 2012: Alexander Semin and Stars Still on the Market

With Zach Parise and Ryan Suter shocking the world and signing together with the Minnesota Wild, the rest of the NHL is forced to look at what remains of the free-agent pool.

The market has thinned quite a bit, but stars like Alexander Semin, Shane Doan and Teemu Selanne could be the kind of addition to a contending team that puts them over the edge.

No matter who has already signed, all of the following players are the best of what’s left and will be great in 2013.

 



Alexander Semin

The Washington Capitals have likely given up hope that they will be able to re-sign the inconsistent Alexander Semin to a reasonable deal, but there are plenty of clubs that feel there is potential for success.

While 54 points in each of the last two seasons is not the kind of production a team wants to pay a top salary for, his offensive skill is so great that a potential return to form is a chance some teams are willing to take.
