NHL Free Agency: Tomas Fleischmann To Be Traded?

August 13th, 2010 by Sam Snyder Leave a reply »
After the Washington Capitals re-signed Czech center/winger Tomas Fleishmann to a $2.6 million contract, rumors have circulated that they are planning to trade him. The Globe and Mail first reported the rumors that Fleishmann could be dealt for a defenseman.

The hottest defenseman on the market right now is Toronto's Tomas Kaberle, but Leafs GM Brian Burke has said that Washington is not one of the 10 teams that have inquired about trading for Kaberle.

Burke has also suggested that the Leafs may hold on to Kaberle, though it may just be a ploy to try and get a better deal for him.

Kevin Bieska from Vancouver has been a suggested option, as the Canucks are open to trades for him. Edmonton's Sheldon Souray is another option that is on the market.

The Capitals may not even have to trade, as Willie Mitchell is a big free agent possibility. The Caps are reported to be the front-runners on Mitchell's list of potential teams.
