NHL: Edmonton Oilers, Phoenix Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche Lock Up RFAs

Friday has been an eventful day for the NHL, as three of its remaining restricted free agents have agreed to deals with their respective teams. Oiler, Coyote and Avalanche fans; breath a sigh of relief. Your treasured youngsters are back for the next season.

Beginning with Edmonton, the Oilers inked speedy centre Andrew Cogliano to a one-year deal worth $1 million. Cogliano, 23, put up 10 goals and 28 points in 82 games last year. He has also registered 46 goals and 65 assists for 111 points in 246 career NHL games, all with the Oilers. He has not missed an NHL game yet in his career.

In his sophomore year, Cogliano had a successful All-Star weekend. Not only was he named to the NHL YoungStars game, he also took home the title of fastest skater with a time of 14.31 seconds.

The 5-foot-10, 184-pound speedster was originally drafted in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, 25th overall. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Cogliano saw his ice time lessen last year, which is a major reason as to why his point total dropped.
