NHL Buzz: Tuesday, June 8th

Their has been a ton of Buzz around the NHL today.  Here is the latest along with my thoughts.

The Carolina Hurricanes and forward Ray Whitney are not close on a contract extension and according to multiple sources the Hurricanes are going to let him walk. It is too bad his stint with the Hurricanes is going to end this way, but now he can look at all of his options this Summer and sign with a contender.

The Florida Panthers have contacted the Boston Bruins about acquiring the 2nd overall pick in this years draft.

I personally think that is a smart move by Dale Tallon. He may not even get the pick but it was smart of him to try and work something out with the hope of landing a franchise player on a struggling Florida Panthers team.

According to multiple sources the Calgary Flames and Ian White are not even close on a contract extension.

This is terrible news for the Flames. Many people think that he was the best player the Flames got in the trade that sent Dion Phaneuf to the Leafs. If they don't get him re-signed it will be a huge loss to the Flames and their blueline.
