NHL Buzz: The Latest on Brendan Morrison, Nazem Kadri, The Devils, and More

Just a few days after the Vancouver Canucks released Brendan Morrison from his pro tryout, the Calgary Flames jumped on Morrison and signed him to a one-year contract worth $750,000.

My take: I have heard rumors that the Flames were interested in him from the get go and as soon as I heard the Flames were looking to add another forward, I knew something was up.

Nazem Kadri was among the Maple Leafs sent to the Marlies today. Joining Kadri in the AHL will be Jussi Rynnas, Matt Lashoff and Luca Caputi among others.

My take: I knew Kadri, Rynnas and maybe Lashoff were not going to make the team but to be honest I am shocked Caputi didn't. He has a fantastic preseason and put up a decent amount of points. For a team who is looking for offense, I don't understand this move.

Today the New Jersey Devils sent forwards Jacob Josefson, Mattias Tedenby to their AHL affiliate. Joining Josefson and Tedenby will be defenseman Matt Corrente and goaltender Mike McKenna; however, Devils GM Lou Lamoriello told Devils beat writer Tom Gulitti that it is not out of the question that one or two of them could be back with the Devils ...
