NHL Buzz: Monday, June 7th

The Stanley Cup finals are still running, yet the rumor mill is going off the charts.  Here is my opinion on some of the latest rumors from around the NHL.

 

According to multiple sources, the New Jersey Devils have narrowed their coaching options down to two, John MacLean and Michel Therrien.

My take: Personally I would like to see John MacLean become the next coach of the New Jersey Devils because he knows the system better. However, I want the Devils to be a more offensive team and Michel Therrien is better suited for that.

 

Rumor has it that St. Petersburg of the KHL has offered Ilya Kovalchuk a three-year deal that would earn him $42 million of tax free money.

My take: I have said it once and I will say it again, Ilya Kovalchuk said that he will explore all NHL options before even considering moving to Russia; it is still his goal to win a Stanley Cup in the NHL.
