Philadelphia Flyers 5, New York Rangers 2, FINAL

The Flyers needed to win to stay alive and they rose to the occasion.

Wayne Simmonds scored his first career playoff hat trick while Steve Mason made 34 saves to earn the win.

The Flyers got in close to the Rangers' goal and converted on those opportunities. All three of Simmonds' tallies came from just outside the crease. Two of them came on the power play. Erik Gustafsson and Claude Giroux also scored for the Flyers with Giroux's tally coming with an empty net. The Flyers chased Henrik Lundqvist who was removed after allowing four goals in two periods of work.

Carl Hagelin and Mats Zuccarello scored for the Rangers, but New York trailed 4-0 before they scored late in the third period and it was too little, too late.

The Rangers have now lost 12 straight playoff games in which they've had a lead in the series.

Game 7 will be played Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden at 7:00 p.m. ET.
