New York Rangers To Cut Ties With Enver Lisin

According to the New York Post , the New York Rangers will not be extending an offer to Enver Lisin, making him an unrestricted free agent come July 1.

The 24-year-old right-wing registered just 14 points last season, including just six goals in 57 games after coming over from Phoenix last summer in exchange for Lauri Korpikoski.

The Russian-born winger spent most of the season on the third and fourth lines and could never really find his game on Broadway. Coach John Tortorella didn't warm up to him either, calling his play away from the puck pathetic.

Many Ranger fans saw this coming. He never really got out of Tortorella's doghouse, and he watched more games from the sky box than from ice-level.

This seems like deja-vu for New York. Last season, they chose not to bring back Nik Zherdev, a young, talented player with plenty of upside, who is not unlike Lisin.

Although Zherdev put up more points—in the 50s—Lisin can bring something to a team out there. He's got great speed, and when he pulls the trigger, he possesses a fantastic shot.
