New York Rangers Sign Taylor Pyatt: What is the Next Move?

The New York Rangers have been sitting fairly idle during this free agency period. 

Their newest addition is Taylor Pyatt, who signed a two-year, $3.1 million contract, according to Katie Strang of ESPN New York.

This signing, much like the signings of Asham and Haley, does not immediately address their scoring. But, this signing could be the early workings of a significant move to come. 

Pyatt only registered 19 points in 73 games last season. This former first-rounder has never surpassed 25 goals in a season, but does have good size. 

Pyatt will give the Rangers a little more depth on their third and fourth line. 

It seems fairly clear the Rangers are not active in the Suter/Parise sweepstakes and have already lost out on the Justin Schultz sweepstakes. It appears the Rangers are more willing to trade for a top-six forward as opposed to signing on via free agency. 

Now, to speculate.
