New York Rangers: Henrik Lundqvist Might Actually Get a Night Off

I’ve mentioned this a couple of times over the last week or so: Henrik Lundqvist has been working hard. He’s played in every game but one since the Olympics, he started in the Olympics, and he’s started 19 of the last 20 Rangers games overall.

So it’s safe to say he’s been busy, but Larry Brooks of the NY Post is reporting that coach John Tortorella is going to try to get him a game off this weekend. Which game will he miss: Friday night’s game against the Lightning or Saturday’s game against the Panthers? Also, it’s too early to tell what effect the news that the Tampa ice has turned into Tampa’s pond will have on this.

"Which game [should he sit]? The Lightning have greater scoring threats in Steven Stamkos and Marty St. Louis, but the Rangers, who enjoyed a day off after flying down following Tuesday’s 4-3 victory on the Island, will be rested for that one. The next night, the Panthers will be the rested team.
