New York Rangers: Goalie Carousel Continues As Johnson Recalled

December 12th, 2009 by Kevin McRae Leave a reply »
The New York Rangers revolving door at the goalie position took another spin today as Chad Johnson was recalled from Hartford and Matt Zaba was sent back down.  Zaba, who was called up on Thursday, did not suit up for one game during his short stint.

Johnson, who was sent down in order to get playing time last night for Hartford of the AHL, will be Henrik Lundqvist's backup in tonight's game at home against the Buffalo Sabres.  With four games in the next eight nights, the Blueshirts figure to give Johnson some playing time to rest the overworked Lundqvist.

Johnson has had a solid season in Hartford, posting a 10-7-1 record, with a 2.21 goals against average and three shutouts. He will likely see action Monday night at home against the Atlanta Thrashers as the Rangers open a home-and-home with the rival Islanders on Wednesday night.
