New York Rangers: Blueshirts Pursue Coyotes Mueller in Search for Offense

According to reports today from ESPN's Pierre LeBrun, the New York Rangers are trying to work out a deal with the Phoenix Coyotes for struggling winger Peter Mueller.  Mueller, 21, has registered 1 goal and 5 assists in 26 games this season.

The Blueshirts have made no secret of their desperation to add another scorer to a lineup that has featured Marian Gaborik and not much else.  Mueller has struggled this year fitting into Coach Dave Tippett's system but has shown flashes of offensive potential the past two seasons.

Rangers GM Glen Sather has reportedly offered the Coyotes young d-man Bobby Sanguinetti but Phoenix is balking at the move.  Some believe Phoenix is targeting either Brandon Dubinsky or Ryan Callahan, a price the Rangers seem unwilling to pay.
