Nashville Predators Center Marcel Goc Out, GM Polie Working Phones

Reports out of Nashville say that Predators center Marcel Goc is done for the season.

Goc, who was on pace to have one of his best offensive campaigns, had enjoyed success while playing with Sergei Kostitsyn and Patric Hornqvist.

Goc will be lost for the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury. He was placed on IR effective today.

Preds GM David Poile must decide if the club will be active to acquire another forward, most likely a center to fill the void left by Goc.

Goc's importance to the Preds was established earlier in the season, when the team experienced many key injuries and he was placed on a line with Hornqvist and new comer Kostitsyn. The line continued to be productive throughout most of the big January road trip; the Preds reeled off a 10-game unbeaten streak.

Word is that defensemen Francis Bouillion and Ryan Suter are likely ready to return over the next few games.

The Preds already made a major move by acquiring center Mike Fisher from the Ottawa Senators earlier in the month—could Poile be in the running for another center?
