Montreal Canadien Fans Boo the Star-Spangled Banner

I am all for good natured joking.  Whether that joking is between friends or rivals, having a small laugh at someone else's expense is alright in my book.

However, what I don't particularly care for is downright disrespect.

Last night before the puck dropped on game three between the Washington Capitals and the Montreal Canadiens the Bell Center played both "O, Canada" and "The Star Spangled Banner" as all NHL arenas do.

During "The Star Spangald Banner" a chorus of boos rang through the arena.  This could have been a minority of those in attendance but it was loud enough to sound like a majority.

Sideline reporter Lisa Hillary for CSN Washington (home to Capitals hockey), and a Canadian herself, said she was embarrassed by her countrymen's disrespect.

I know there exists a silly rivalry between Canada and the United States when it comes to—well, when it comes to everything, even things we don't actually compete against each other in.
