Chicago Blackhawks 5, Minnesota Wild 2; FINAL

The Chicago Blackhawks got two goals each from Patrick Kane and Bryan Bickell to defeat the Minnesota Wild 5-2. Chicago leads the best-of-seven series 1-0.

The Chicago Blackhawks overcame a sluggish start and took control of the game in the second half of the first period. Chicago drew first blood on a power play goal by Bickell late in the period.

Minnesota controlled play in the second period, outshooting Chicago 17-3, but the Blackhawks increased their lead on a power play goal by Marian Hossa. Brandon Saad set the play up with a pretty pass.

The Wild came out determined in the third period and tied the game on goals by Clayton Stoner and Kyle Brodziak.

But the Blackhawks' stars put the game out of reach in the second half of the third period. Kane gave the Blackhawks back the lead with a high backhander that just got under the crossbar. Kane scored again with just over three minutes to go to make it 4-2. An empty net goal by Bickell with 2:41 left iced the wn for the Blackhawks.

Game 2 will be in Chicago Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
