Mikko Koivu Injury: Updates on Wild Star’s Status and Return

Minnesota Wild center Mikko Koivu left Tuesday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first period after crashing into the boards. However, he will not miss any game time.

Koivu to Play vs. Flyers Thursday, Jan. 7 Koivu told reporters he is "ready to play and get back at it," adding that he feels "OK" and will play against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Koivu Suffers Undisclosed Injury Tuesday, Jan. 5 Craig Custance of ESPN The Magazine reported the news. Koivu was injured when colliding with Blue Jackets defenseman David Savard and taken to a hospital for further evaluation. 

Koivu was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons and later released, the team announced announced. 


Koivu's Strong Season Has Boosted Wild The longtime Wild star is in the midst of a stellar all-around season. He entered Tuesday night with 10 goals and 22 assists. His per-minute production is his best since the 2010-11 season, adding a spark to the Wild offense.
