Mikkel Boedker to Sharks: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction

Forward Mikkel Boedker signed a four-year deal with the San Jose Sharks on Friday, the club announced in a press release.

Pierre LeBrun of ESPN reported the contract is worth $16 million.

Boedker, 26, spent time with the Arizona Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche in the 2015-16 season, accumulating 17 goals and 34 assists. The Coyotes traded him to the Avalanche in late February for Conner Bleackley, Kyle Wood and Alex Tanguay, and Boedker notched 12 points in 18 games for Colorado.


His acquisition didn't help the team reach the postseason, however, as the Avalanche slumped down the stretch, losing their last six games and eight of their last nine.

It was a devastating close to the season, as the final team to make the Western Conference playoffs—the Minnesota Wild—lost its last five games. But the Avalanche couldn't take advantage, and Boedker has departed for greener pastures.
