It was a painful trip to the frozen plains of Alberta for two Toronto Maple Leafs.
Center Mikhail Gravboski broke his wrist in a first-period collision with Flames forward Nigel Dawes, while Wayne Primeau hurt his knee in the third during Toronto's 3-1 loss to Calgary on Saturday.
Gravboski will be out a minimum of six weeks, while Primeau may be out as long as a month, the club announced today.
Gravboski was tied with Jason Blake for fifth in team scoring, both had 25 points in 42 games. Primeau, meanwhile, had registered five points in 35 contests.
Center John Mitchell, who has missed the past 20 games with a torn MCL, is expected to be back for Toronto's next game on Tuesday at home against the Florida Panthers. He will assume one of the vacated center positions, left by the injuries to Gravboski and Primeau.
It is not known at this time whether or not coach Ron Wilson will summon anyone from the Marlies farm team to fill the other roster spot. If he does, look for either Christian Hanson or Tyler Bozak to get the call.
