Michal Rozsival Injury: Updates on Blackhawks Star’s Ankle and Return

The Chicago Blackhawks were the first team to advance to the penultimate round of the Stanley Cup playoffs with their sweep of the Minnesota Wild Thursday. However, they will be forced to progress without defenseman Michal Rozsival, who fractured his ankle in Game 4 and is out for the season.

Rozsival out for Season with Fractured Ankle Friday, May 8 Rozsival will be out for the rest of the season with a fractured left ankle, the team announced on Friday:

"Michal Rozsival suffered a fractured left ankle during the second period of last night's game. He will require surgery to repair it. He is not expected to return to full hockey activity until next season."

As seen at the 1:08 mark of this NHL.com video, the veteran blueliner twisted his ankle severely, which forced him out of the contest (Warning: Footage may be disturbing to some):



It is an unfortunate situation since the 36-year-old rearguard was starting to play his best hockey of the season, according to Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times:
