Zuccarello Out Indefinitely with Upper-Body Injury
Monday, April 27
Larry Brooks of the New York Post reported the discouraging news about Zuccarello's injury situation:
Rangers coach Alain Vigneault spoke about how the team will cope without Zuccarello, saying New York will recall a forward to the roster, as the team will "need at least one spare," via the team's Twitter account.
Zuccarello was struck in the head with a shot from teammate Ryan McDonagh during Friday's 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. The victory advanced New York to the conference semifinals.
It appears unlikely that Zuccarello will be available for that series or any after it in these NHL playoffs, but the Rangers do have considerable depth.
Rookie Kevin Hayes will be asked to step up at Zuccarello's position. Hayes has proven capable of doing that in light of his overtime goal in Game 4 against Pittsburgh.
