Marian Gaborik was just activated off injured reserve on Dec. 20, but his tenure on the ice was short-lived. The Columbus Blue Jackets forward left his first game back in the first quarter after breaking his collarbone:

INJURY UPDATE: #CBJ RW Marian Gaborik suffered a broken collarbone in the first period & will be out indefinitely.

— NHL Blue Jackets (@BlueJacketsNHL) December 22, 2013 The Slovakian forward had missed the last 17 games with a sprained knee, and he has five goals and six assists in 17 games this season.

Gaborik has been a stellar attacking force over his career, scoring 341 goals with a plus/minus rating of plus-91 over his 12 years in the NHL.

He will be out indefinitely, which is a huge blow for the Blue Jackets as they try to climb out of their current spot as the second-worst team in the Metropolitan division.

While it's unclear how long he'll be sidelined, the magnitude of the injury leaves the writing on the wall for the fallen star.
