Marc-Andre Bergeron Traded to Carolina Hurricanes from Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning have dealt defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron to the Carolina Hurricanes for Adam Hall and a 2013 seventh-round draft pick, according to the Hurricanes' official website:

Hurricanes president and general manager Jim Rutherford told the team’s site that “Marc-Andre is a skilled, veteran defenseman who has made a good career out of helping teams on the power play.”

Bergeron has five points in just 12 games this season after missing time with a back injury and being a healthy scratch during several games over the last month, according to the Tampa Tribune, via Rotoworld.com. 

The 10-year NHL veteran has spent the last three seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning, and while he has faced the injury bug throughout his career—he has never played a full season—the defender has still managed to amass 231 points.

That kind of offensive touch is exactly what the Hurricanes are looking for.
