Maple Leafs-Sabres: The Vibe at the ACC for Toronto’s Clash With Buffalo

The buzz in the ACC on Monday night ahead of the game with the Sabres, a team which has somewhat owned Toronto recently, was one of optimism and anxiety after "the Monster" had shut out the hated division rival Boston Bruins Saturday.

Buffalo scored the first goal of the game and a unanimous groan from the audience blanketed the arena, followed by the rumblings of how this had happened way too often this year.

While talking to some of the fans outside during the first intermission, I got a lot of positive feedback about the home town Leafs.

The name that came out of almost everyone’s mouth was Phil Kessel and how no one seemed concerned anymore about the draft picks that Brian Burke had given up to get him.

Another player who seems to be the centre of attention was goaltender Jonas Gustavsson, "the Monster", who has shown sparks of brilliance despite multiple heart surgeries.
