Maple Leafs, Blue Jackets Rumor Seems a Bit Far-Fetched

It’s been mentioned by a few sources now that the Maple Leafs could pursue a trade that would send Tomas Kaberle to the Blue Jackets for their number four pick overall in next month's draft.

While I admit anything can happen, this rumor seems like a bit much to me. I’m not sure how a lot of Leafs fans feel, but doesn’t this seem like a little too much to give up for Kaberle?

If Scott Howson is actually preparing to send that pick to the Leafs for the 32 year old Kaberle, he’s crazier than Daryl Sutter.

Kaberle’s contract has one year remaining and many people believe he won’t stay in the West next summer. Of course this is all speculation and for all we know he could land there and sign a six year extension. It happens.

Regardless, I can’t see how Columbus can make that trade.

Passing up on Erik Gudbranson, Brett Connolly or even Cam Fowler (should Gudbranson pass him, like many have predicted) to get possibly one year out of Kaberle? This doesn’t make any sense to me.

I don’t know, maybe I’m giving Kaberle a hard time and not giving him enough credit. ...
