Detroit Red Wings 3, Tampa Bay Lightning 0 (Detroit leads series 2-1)

The Detroit Red Wings took a slim lead in their Eastern Conference first-round series with the Tampa Bay Lightning by way of a 3-0 win in Game 3 on Tuesday night.

Pavel Datsyuk scored his second goal of the series in the first period, when his stick deflected in a Tomas Tatar shot from the point.

It took until the third period for Detroit to earn some breathing room. On the team's third power play of the night, Riley Sheahan received a pass from Justin Abdelkader, skated around Tampa Bay goalie Ben Bishop and finished off a backhand.

Detroit sealed its second victory of the playoffs on a Luke Glendening empty-net goal with 49 seconds left in the game.

Tampa Bay shot itself in the foot all night long, as it failed to convert on six power-play opportunities.

The two sides will meet again on Thursday at Joe Louis Arena for Game 4.
