Nikita Kucherov scored two goals, and the Tampa Bay Lightning eliminated the Montreal Canadiens with a 4-1 win in Game 6 of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference playoff series Tuesday night at Amalie Arena.

Tampa Bay advances to the Eastern Conference Final for the the first time since 2011 where it will face either the top-seeded New York Rangers or the Washington Capitals.

The Lightning, who failed in two previous attempts to close out the series after opening a 3-0 lead, came out early in the first period with energy and never let up.  

Kucherov deflected Ondrej Palat's shot at the 15:35 mark of the first period to give Tampa Bay the lead heading into the first intermission. 

A wicked wrister from captain Steven Stamkos doubled the Bolts' edge, and Palat, off a return-the-favor feed from Kucherov on the power play, effectively iced the game heading to the third with a three-goal lead.

Montreal looked like a team that ran out of steam after winning back-to-back elimination games. It had very little puck possession, offensive-zone pressure or quality shots on goal.
