A Kings fan's diary, week of March 22, 2010

 

Monday, March 22: 4-3 OT Win At Home vs. Colorado Avalanche

7:30pm: Game time. This begins the need for "playoff mode" attitude. No mercy.

9:40pm: Ryan Smyth scores to put the Kings ahead 3-2. Yes. Yes. Yes. Two points here we come.

9:55pm: Kings allow late goal with 10 seconds left to send game into overtime. Words which cannot be displayed on Bleacher Report. Is this really happening? Is the season unraveling before my eyes inside Staples Center?

10:02pm: Do the people behind me really not know that we are in OT?

10:05pm: "Cross-check! Penalty! Let's go, pick it up!" (Motioning to crowd to stand up).

10:07pm: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! (Excessive fist pumping) Drew Doughty! You just surpassed Zach Parise as my hero! (Jubilant hugging and celebrating) How huge of cajones does it take for a 20-year-old to step up and beat an NHL goalie straight up on a slap-shot from the blue line? ~COUGH~Norris Trophy~COUGH~

 

Wednesday, March 24: 3-4 OT Loss @ Colorado Avalanche

6:15pm: Shot goes off Jack Johnson's skate ...
