Keith Yandle’s Wonder Goal Gets Assist from Protective Glass

When you score a goal because of a fortuitous ricochet, it's best not to gloat. With that in mind, we excuse the muted celebration from the Phoenix Coyotes after Keith Yandle scored on Thursday night. 

A tip of the hat to SportsGrid for spotting one of the weirdest goals we have seen in sports, not just the NHL. 

While the Minnesota Wild would go on to beat Phoenix, 4-3, I would like to point out that the Coyotes take the prize for most memorable moment of the game. 

With a little over four minutes to go in the third period, Yandle slaps the puck off the glass and it ricochets perfectly back towards the net. 

If there were any time, I am sure Niklas Backstrom would have yelled, "You've got to be kidding me?"

Instead, the puck slides into goal perfectly. 

The hilarious part is the Coyotes players celebrating the late goal with the exuberance of a kid who just got away with an awful prank. 

It's best not to press your luck, so we understand they were content to smile and move on with minimal celebration.
