The Calgary Flames announced Wednesday that starting goalie Karri Ramo has a torn ACL and meniscus damage, which will keep him out for the remainder of the current NHL season.

Ramo To Undergo Surgery This Week, Recovery Timeline 6-8 Months

Alex Prewitt of Sports Illustrated cited Calgary general manager Brad Treliving in reporting on when the Flames can expect their goalie to return to the ice.
Ramo posted a 17-18-1 record during the 2015-16 campaign with a 2.63 GAA. Veteran Jonas Hiller will step into the starting role between the pipes.
Last Thursday's game against the San Jose Sharks was when Ramo was initially injured in a collision with opposing forward Joonas Donskoi.
"Tough blow for Karri. He's been working so hard and bounced back from a tough start," said Calgary head coach Bob Hartley on Wednesday, per the club's official Twitter account.
