Jean-Sebastien Giguere Injury Update

Maple Leafs goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere suffered his third groin injury of the season last week in a game against the Calgary Flames. Giguere said he was very concerned about the injury and that it wasn't just a matter of resting it. "I think there is something going on and it's just a question of figuring it put," Giguere said (via Paul Hunter of the Toronto Star).

Giguere will meet with a specialist today to reveal the severity of his injury. Early murmurs suggest he could be out long term if not at least about one to two weeks.

In spite of the injury, Jonas Gustavsson will make his second straight start for the Buds tonight as they host the Atlanta Thrashers. James Riemer will be the backup.

Update on Mike Brown: Jonas Siegel of AM 640 just told me that Brown is indeed improving in hopes of a return. Brown began skating with the team during their three game western canadian road trip but with a large protective cast on his injured hand. He is still a few weeks away from a return.

BREAKING NEWS: The Toronto Maple Leafs have demoted Jay Rosehill to the AHL Toronto Marlies.
