New York Islanders goaltender Jaroslav Halak suffered a lower-body injury and is edging closer to a return after practicing with the team.

Halak Returns to Practice, Ruled "Good to Go" Thursday, March 19 Islanders head coach Jack Capuano told Cory Wright of Islanders.NHL.com that Halak is "good to go" following practice.

Earlier, the Islanders' official Twitter feed posted a picture of Halak making his return to practice:



Halak Out, Poulin Recalled Tuesday, March 17 The Islanders announced Kevin Poulin was called up to replace Halak on the roster for the time being:



It's unclear exactly when the injury occurred. Halak played the full game Friday night, a 2-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators. He won't play Tuesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The good news for the Islanders is that they don't play again until Saturday. If it's just a minor ailment, as the day-to-day distinction would suggest, Halak could be back in time to face the New Jersey Devils this weekend.
