Jamie Benn Injury: Updates on Stars Captain’s Hip and Recovery

Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn won't be hitting the golf course this offseason like many of the NHL players who missed out on the postseason. Instead, he'll require surgery on his hip, per reports.

Benn to Have Offseason Surgery, Lengthy Rehab Monday, April 13 According to Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com, Benn will require surgery despite playing in all 82 games this season and having a fantastic season:



As Mark Stepneski of the team's official site tweeted, Benn's rehab will be quite extensive:



Benn was magnificent for the Stars this season, scoring 35 goals, dishing out 52 assists and winning the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL's leading scorer on the last day of the season after notching four points against the Nashville Predators.

He edged out John Tavares of the New York Islanders (86 points) and Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins (84 points).
