Van Riemsdyk Out 6-8 Weeks

The team announced on Monday that van Riemsdyk will be out six to eight weeks after suffering a non-displaced fracture in his left foot.
Van Riemsdyk, 26, has scored 14 goals and added 15 assists in 40 games this season.
The injury is a major blow to a team buried in the Eastern Conference standings with just 39 points. Only the Buffalo Sabres (36) and Columbus Blue Jackets (34) have been worse in the East this season.
Losing their top scorer on the season will make digging out of that hole all the more difficult for the Maple Leafs.
Toronto recalled AHL forward Josh Leivo to replace van Riemsdyk in the lineup Monday, per NHL.com. Leivo, 22, has appeared in 16 NHL games over the past two years, scoring two goals. He's been excellent in AHL play this season, notching 11 goals and 19 assists in 35 games this season, good enough for a berth in the AHL All-Star Game.
