In return, the Maple Leafs received goalie Alex Stalock and forward Ben Smith.
According to ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun, no salary will be retained in the deal, as Smith and Stalock going to Toronto "took care of that."
The Sharks receive an upgrade at the backup goaltender position in Reimer, who started 29 games this season for Toronto.
San Jose is currently sitting in seventh place in the Western Conference, just two points ahead of the eighth-place Colorado Avalanche. Acquiring a goalie like Reimer ensures the Sharks will have a solid second option behind starter Martin Jones instead of Stalock.
