Jaden Schwartz Injury: Updates on Blues Winger’s Ankle and Return

St. Louis Blues left winger Jaden Schwartz is expected to miss at least three months of action after suffering an ankle injury in practice Friday.

Schwartz Suffered Fractured Ankle During DrillSaturday, Oct. 24Blues general manager Doug Armstrong confirmed the 23-year-old underwent surgery on the ankle and will get re-evaluated in 12 weeks, according to the team's official site. He's been placed on injured reserve as he begins the recovery process.

St. Louis head coach Ken Hitchcock has been behind the bench for four different teams dating back to the 1995-96 season. He's never seen anything like what happened to Schwartz, per Jeremy P. Rutherford and Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

"It was a pretty innocent thing," Hitchcock said Friday. "We'll see how serious it is tomorrow, but obviously he couldn't finish practice. That's the first alarm bell that goes off, that he couldn't finish the practice. We'll see in the morning. See if it's serious or not. I've been in it a long time, I've never seen that in my life, in a warmup drill, the guy goes down."
