Ilya Kovlachuk Re-Signs With the New Jersey Devils

In a surprise turn of events, Ilya Kovalchuk has re-signed with the New Jersey Devils.  Terms have not been announced, and moves remain to be made to get the Devils under the salary cap, but today is a day for Devils' fans to remember, for Ilya Kovalchuk will be returning to the New Jersey Devils!

More to follow, as terms and other information becomes available, but a 1 pm press conference has been scheduled for Tuesday at the Prudential Center.

You can almost bet the Devils will be announcing other transactions either today or tomorrow as well, as the Devils only currently have a little less then $4 million of salary cap space currently with the roster they have in place.

Rumors around the internet say the contract is for 17 years for $102 million, but we will likely have to wait until the press conference for final confirmation on that.  If accurate, getting Kovalchuk for a $6 million cap hit would be an outright steal by the Devils.
