Putting to rest the belief that the Carolina Hurricanes terrible start to the 2009-10 season was merely a mix of incompetent offense, embarrassing defense, and abysmal goaltending, sources within the organization have revealed that the true reason is that the 'Canes feel like they should get summers off.

"It's just ridiculous," Hurricanes forward Erik Cole declared.  "We've already got the longest schedule of any of the main sports, so why should we want to do well?  Just so we can make the season longer?  And for a piece of metal?  Come on, it's just not worth it."
