Hockey Player Trevor Gillies Slams Opponent’s Head into Ice After Fight

Former NHL player Trevor Gillies has been known for his dirty play, but this might be one of his worst offenses.

The Adirondack Flames were facing the Rochester Americans in an AHL matchup Friday night when Gillies got into a scuffle with Americans rookie William Carrier. After the fight, Gillies slammed Carrier's head into the ice.

Gillies has been involved in multiple incidents on the ice, leading to suspensions and even a police investigation in Finland. Carrier's visor appeared to absorb most of the impact, but Gillies put his opponent in serious risk of a head injury.

Carrier and his head coach spoke about the incident after the game, per the Democrat and Chronicle:


"I felt my head get picked up and pulled down," Carrier said. Carrier wasn't injured. He even maintained afterward it was no big deal. "That's hockey," he said.

His coach found no humor whatsoever in the goon move.
