Update: Henrik Lundqvist will start tonight for the New York Rangers.
Tonight the Rangers take on the Boston Bruins in Boston in their first matchup of the season. Usually these games produce very small scores, and become major goaltending duels as the game grows on. The New York Rangers practiced Friday morning and John Tortorella is still questioning who he will start in tonight’s game.
Will it be All-Star goaltender Henrik Lundqvist or backup goaltender Martin Biron.
Lundqvist usually gets the starts against the Boston Bruins, but tonight he may play as backup to Martin Biron. The Rangers have back-to-back games this weekend, playing Sunday night against the New Jersey Devils.
The question becomes whether or not Henrik Lundqvist should start two nights in a row, and against two tough teams.
The Rangers will rely on their goaltender in both games, whether it’s Biron or Lundqvist, as both teams (the Devils and Bruins) are solid defensively.
