The Montreal Canadiens finished off a regular-season series sweep of the Boston Bruins on Sunday, marking the first time since 1944-45 that the Habs have swept Boston with all of the wins coming in regulation, per Sportsnet Stats.
Sunday's 3-1 victory moved the Canadiens' record to 34-15-3 on the season, which places them two points behind the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Atlantic Division, but with three games in hand.
The archrival Bruins fell to 28-18-7, as the recent powerhouse surprisingly finds itself fighting just to qualify for the playoffs.
Even more impressive, the Habs managed to keep Boston off the scoreboard for a stretch of 159 minutes and 25 seconds of game action this season before finally surrendering a goal to David Pastrnak in the third period of Sunday's game, per Sportsnet Stats.
While the stats were relatively even across the board Sunday night, Canadiens goaltender Carey Price slightly outperformed counterpart Tuukka Rask, stopping 34 of the 35 shots he faced, compared to 31 out of 33 for the Bruins' netminder.
