The Pittsburgh Penguins went into Joe Louis Arena Saturday night to face the Detroit Red Wings, but that is not the main story for Pittsburgh.

Superstar Evgeni Malkin left the game with an injury after going into the boards. The Pittsburgh Penguins had more details in the immediate aftermath:

Evgeni Malkin goes hard into the boards. It doesn't look like he's putting any weight on his left leg. He's helped off the ice by teammates.

Malkin is walking normally. Still waiting for update.

Malkin has a lower-body injury. While he was walking around after the game he will get further evaluated tomorrow, per #Pens coach Bylsma

— Pittsburgh Penguins (@penguins) December 15, 2013 Losing Malkin for an extended period of time would certainly be worrisome for the Penguins. He already had a goal in the game against Detroit before exiting and is a primary reason why they have won seven of eight.
