Add Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith to the list of NHL players affected by an illness that will cause him to miss time.

According to Tracey Myers of Comcast SportsNet Chicago, Keith will sit out the Blackhawks' home game against Minnesota on Tuesday, but head coach Joel Quenneville couldn't say if it was another case of the mumps:

After the game, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune  and Myers reported more detail:

There have been 14 players from five different teams diagnosed with mumps so far this season, so everyone in the NHL is being extra cautious.

Keith leads all Blackhawks defenseman with 18 points and is third on the team with a plus/minus rating of 10, trailing only Kris Versteeg and Niklas Hjalmarsson. He has appeared in all 31 of Chicago's games so far this season, helping guide the team to a 21-9-1 start.
