Detroit Red Wings: Will They Be Ready for a Shortened Season?

The NHL has set a 48-game minimum  for the season this year.  Talks have heated up as the owners recently made a new proposal.  With a short training camp, will the Detroit Red Wings be ready to start the season?

Many teams have players who are playing overseas right now.  The Red Wings have 10 players who have played in other leagues.  In addition to that, they have several players who they were able to send down to their Grand Rapids minor league team.

On top of that, the Red Wings have several players who have remained in town that have gathered together for practices.  While that is nice to see, it really does not prepare the team for games.  It does, however, keep it in shape.  This is something that many other teams are doing as well, so it is not an advantage for the Red Wings.

The advantage for the Red Wings is that they have players who are competing in meaningful games.
