Connor McDavid Injury Updates: Oilers Star’s Return Date Revealed

The Edmonton Oilers' No. 1 overall pick in 2015, Connor McDavid, has missed 37 games since breaking his clavicle one month into the season, but the rookie star is expected to return soon.

McDavid To Return Tuesday vs. Blue Jackets Monday, Feb. 1 McDavid will make his much-anticipated return to the ice Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets as the Oilers return from the All-Star break, according to TSN’s Ryan Rishaug. 

He's been out since he broke his clavicle in a Nov. 4 game against the Philadelphia Flyers after violently colliding into the boards behind the goal net, as shown by Sportsnet Canada:



The 19-year-old Canadian was arguably the most highly touted prospect since Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux broke into the league as the top pick in the 1984 draft. 

Before his injury, McDavid burst out to a torrid pace with 12 points in his first 13 games. An injury of such magnitude this early in his career is concerning but perhaps not a complete shock given the nature of the sport coupled with his aggressive play.
